blackouts and dizzyness

my husband is a pilot and is 26 years old....he was perfectly normal when 2 weeks back while flying he suddenly felt dizzy with clouds all in front of his eyes.......he could not see anything.....evrything blacked out suddenly..............he felt as if he ws looked in the plane and is going to die.......somehow he managed landing back............next day again when he went for flying he had the same episode for about 10 sec...........
also he feels suffocated while in his room......he is scared.......he went for a ct scan and even while he was in the machine he started screaming that he needs to get out...........
i know he is not crazy but he is having some sleep irregularities from the past one month.........i think its may be due to that.........
i am very upset........please tell me what can i do and what he should do.........

Well, I get a little nervous in MRI scan machines, they need to tranquilize him real good next scan.  But he's just anxious right now, his whole career is riding on this thing, after all.  His sleep problems, accordng to your report, began before his dizzy episode, but could be he didn't tell you about some earlier ones.  Try to get a male friend to talk with him about the situation, might help him sleep better, which would improve everything.

He needs to get a new physical and they need to knock him out for his scan, but also his heart needs to be checked out, and his ears, of all things.  An ENT doc can look in there and see if perhaps his ear drum and inner ear has air stuck in there, or maybe an infection... which would explain some of his sleep trouble and would give him vertigo now and then, which can make a person pass out.  Vertigo happened to an astronaut, they showed it in "The Right Stuff," he passed clean out one day with it.

His heart should be checked because he needs enough blood flow to his brain, so if he's having neurological problems it could be because of lack of blood flow. I think stress is a big part of this, only making it worse, so he needs to really destress occasionally. Take some time for himself to just breath and relax. good luck.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, Though from descriptions of his symptoms, it sounds that either he could be over-stressed due to excessive work. But I would also recommend that he should get his neurological examination done with the help of a neurologist. Since dizziness & sudden blackout can also be suggestive of any heart related symptoms, but as you are young therefore this possibility will be quite low. Finally, my recommendations are just take break in between for long hours of computer job in a single stretch and examined for any brain lesions or any other neurological disorders. Hope this helps. For his safety and others, he should NOT be flying a plane with until his medical situation is sorted out.

Secondly, he should definitely consult a Neurologist and get an MRI of the brain/head WITH contrast SEDATED prior.

Thirdly, were they able to get the CT done or not?
