Hi,
The cause of your son’s symptoms could be Cranial arteritis or temporal arteritis. The skin is sensitive to touch and as the Temporal artery supplies blood to the jaw and top of the head, symptoms include headache, scalp tenderness and soreness after movement or stroking of the skin. The temporal artery also supplies the optic nerve, blurred vision occurs on touching or stroking the scalp. One of the most serious, and gratefully rare, complications of temporal arthritis is blindness. Investigations show an increased ESR and raised alkaline phosphates. Treatment consists of administration of corticosteroids. Please consult a cardiologist for the examination, investigations and management plan. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
