board certified importance??

  How significant is it that your surgeon is board certified in his/her specialty?
  Does is really matter?

Board certification means that the physician has not only completed
training in a specialty but has also passed rigorous exams at the end
so that he / she has proven that he /he has the required body of knowlege.
There are many good physicians out there who do not have board certification,
it does serve as some degree of proof of someones qualifications.
