body high

this may sound like a wierd way to describe my problem. lately i have had some kinda numb feeling in my body sometimes all over or just certain areas.  i am not on any medication or drugs. it is kinda of a good feeling if i was sitting around doing nothing. and at the same time it should not be happening.  i do have narcolepsy and the reason i add this is because i know this in itself has a lot of symptoms  ie cataplexy sleep paralysis. i have searched and no such feeling matches up with narcolepsy  thanks

I had three regular sleep studies with nap studies, and it wasn't until the third one that it was revealed I had narcolepsy.

You never know what could happen! I hope for your sake you don't have narcolepsy, but sleep specialists are taught to order multiple sleep studies if they suspect narcolepsy in a patient. Your doctor sounds like she is really looking out for you. Let me know how things go.

That is really strange. So long as you have no other symptoms, I think it's safe to say it's probably associated with narcolepsy. The only way to be sure is to have it checked out by a neurologist. They could order an EMG to evaluate nerve conduction in certain areas that you feel muscle numbness to see what's going on, or an brain MRI if necessary.

Keep me posted if you decide to follow-up on this! And good luck with your narcolepsy. I know first-hand how rough of a disease it is to manage on a daily basis.

Ah, if your symptoms are occurring only when you laugh, it's possible your cataplexy is just worsening. Narcolepsy is a progressive disease, meaning it worsens with age, although some narcoleptics have reported feeling better once they hit their 50's.

Is your numbness more like a muscle weakness? Or do your muscles still function, but you can't feel them?

Do your symptoms match with peripheral neuropathy? I have narcolepsy, too, and I actually get some random numbness (not weakness) and tingling at times, but I have a host of other neurological symptoms that can be linked to a pineal cyst and two venous malformations.

Narcolepsy is believed to be an autoimmune disease, although this hasn't been confirmed. Have you ever been tested for any other autoimmune diseases, like mysathenia gravis, thyroid disease (Hashimoto's, in this case), or Wilson's Disease?

ok   thats a good question. it is very tough to answer.  i would  say that i have more of a muscle still function situation but  kinda of cant use muscles as well. its nothing like a cataplexy problem. when that happens i might not be able to stand or my face could tense up very bad.
in other words  that s a tough to answer because i really dont know what i am feeling. its was actually easier to figure out that i had narcolepsy before even diagnosed just from looking up sympotms or wierd accurances  i e : hallucination, sleep paralysis
