botox and children

My son is 6 years old and has cerebral palsy in his right leg.  Last week he had Botox injections to help loosen the muscle but has since had swelling in the ankle, not a point of injection, and has not been able to put any weight on it without extreme pain.  Just wondering if any one has had an exerience like this.  In the mean time we are trying to figure out what may have caused the swelling because our doctor does not have a clue?

The botox injections have been used for at least a decade to treat spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions. Approval for this use is still being reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The following side effects have been reported by at least 1% of people taking this medication. Many of these side effects can be managed, and some may go away on their own over time.

When used for spasticity associated with cerebral palsy: fever, knee or ankle pain, leg pain, leg cramps, local or general weakness, mild flu-like syndrome, pain, soreness or bruising at the place of injection and tiredness.
I would advise that you visit your doctor if the pain in ankle is not relieved soon.
