A year ago my son substained a head injury where he was disoriented for a few minutes. He thought he was playing football with a team they had played the week before. This year he has been diagnosed with a concussion
after receiving a CAT scan. In the emergency room he did not respond or move his feet when they used a ink pen and ran down the bottom of his foot.
This went on for about 45 minutes to an hour. He said when he got hit a little bit later he complained of not being able to see out of his right eye and was feeling dizzy. After that you had to steer him to the vehicle
when we transported him to the hospital. For seven days now he has been complaining of a headache and one day after the incident he had two incidence where he was vomiting. All of this took place on October 16, 1998 and today it is October 23, 1998. He also mentioned that during football practice they had him running and throwing the football. (he is the quarterback. He suffered a broken jaw on the left side and had surgery where he was wired shut for 6 weeks. They put a plate on the bottom part of his mouth. This occurred on May 30, 1998. My concern is should he return for the next two football games and also what should I be concerned about since the headaches and eyes hurting have continued now for seven days?

It sounds like your son has suffered a very severe concussion and to start
with I would definitely not advise him to go back to playing football
until he has completely recovered from the previous head injury.
He has obviously not fully recovered from the last injury if he has
headaches and vomiting, so returning to football is out of the question.
I am not completely happy with the fact that he has has headaches and visualsymptoms
so far out from the injury, this needs to be checked out if it does not settle down
rapidly, it is probably still due to a severe concussion but it would be a
good idea to have him checked again by your family doctor.
