brain surgery causing nerve damage

i had brain surgery to remove a brain tumor last march and since the surgery my right hand is very weak and extrmely uncoordinated and my motor skilthe processls in the right hand are pretty much non-existent. i was told by doctors this is a common result of brain surgery especially in the cereberal area and will improve with time.however  the healing process is painfully slow thus causing severe sceptisicm on my part. Is there anything else besides occupational therapy and time that can improve and possibly maybe quicken this?

Occupational therapy....not sure if you were referring to physical therapy there.  But physical therapy, you do need to have that, and you must take it very seriously, push very hard with that programme.  Also, it might help in general to have a professional massage therapist work on your body muscles a few times a month, to keep the "chi" moving through your body unfettered.  If you are right-handed, you need to go ahead and switch to the left...but don't ignore the right.  And to help the brain regenerate as many electrical connections as possible, you should be doing all sorts of mental "exercises," like crosswords, picture puzzles, creative hobbies, playing chess, computer games, anything that requires full concentration.  And you also need to rest your mind by meditating, listening to soothing music, long easy walks through natural areas, playing with your children or with pets, sharing dinner with people you like, watching a good movie.  And you need to eat brain food, like stuff with vitamin B.  Find a support group online for people who have had brain surgery and share there.  They'll probably have a raft of tips.  There are a couple books that have been written by people who have had problems from brain surgery and how they managed, this forum has discussed those within the last six months or so.

But if you're looking for a definitive quick fix or advice that goes against what your surgeon has told you, I cannot give that to you.  Because anytime they open your skull to save your life by neutralizing a deadly abnormality, you're very likely going to have some residual problem, but try to remember that you're still you, no matter what your right hand is up to.
