bump/lump on back of skull/scalp

I'm a 15 year old, female. For as long as i can remember ive had this lump on the back of my skull. It doesnt hurt generally unless i press it or apply pressure. If you go to the top of my spine onto my skull on the left and right side there are a small bump in the skull. Everyone has them. The right side though is slightly bigger. Its hard and has no color. I'm going to my doctor soon for my child welness check up and i'll ask her to look at it. What could it be?
I also have some little red bumps that hurt and bleed when i poke them on my skull. They are more near the hair line though. What about those?

thank you

Dear Bump,
Do not worry.  The bump you feel is probably where fat has built up, a normal sort of thing.  If everyone shaved their heads, you'd see lots of bumped-out places.  The little hairline rash is probably an allergy to whatever shampoo you're using, so try switching brands, and always rinse your neck good.

Your doctor will probably tell you something similar, but he might have a cream you can put on the hairline rash.  But let's say you have something that needs to be removed... I have had stuff like that, and they always give you a medicine first that makes you feel wonderful, and when you come back around, why, they give you pain medicine which also makes you feel great.  In fact, I had to have a minor procedure done awhile back, and because of the feel-good drugs they give you, I have to say it was the best day I had that whole year!  No joke!

Hang in, your doc will be real nice to you and answer all your questions.  It's great to have a doc, because you can tell them anything that is bothering you, and they will be able to help.  And that's all docs want to do, is help people and fix them.
