burning pain in right thigh

burning pain in right thigh

i had shingles about 4 years ago in my right thigh and groin area. sometimes I get that burning pain in the same nerve in my thigh. Could this still be from the shingles or could it be something else like varicose vains? Nothing seems to help with the pain. I take Lodine daily for torn tendons in the left ankle.

Yes, the pain after a bout of shingles can last or recur indefinitely.  It is called Post-Herpetic Neuralgia.  Ask your doctor about a medication like Lyrica or Neurontin for a type of pain called neuropathic (nerve-caused) pain.

Good luck, quix
