burning sensations


    I have in the past two year's had a warm or burning sensation's on my arm's, leg's right shoulder and down the back of my right leg, after mri's and blood and nerve test doc's say every thing is o.k. but the burning is still there. it does seem to be worse after i'm up for a while, and it seem's to go away when i lay down to bed, i am very concerned and if you could shed a little lite on this subject i would really appreciate it       I thank you in advance   jim.

I do not think that we can shed much light in terms of giving you a diagnosis since this has escaped the doctors who have had a chance to question you, examine you and look at the results of your tests.
I hope we can reassure you to some extent that this symptom is relatively common, and in those cases where MRI, nerve tests like EMG and blood tests are normal, there is no liklehood of progression or deterioration to any serious underlying disease.
The fact that this symptom has been present for two years without serious developments and that it comes and goes,and is dependent on physical activity also proves that there is no permanent or progressive underlying neurological damage.
If the symptom is distressing or very painful the drug "Neurontin" may be quite useful, the main point however id that while this may be irritating you have no cause for serious concern.
