calcifications in ventricles of brain and cyst near pituitary gland

I had an MRI done in May that revealed calcifications of my pineal gland as well as in the ventricles.  Also there was a cyst near the pituitary & pineal gland when seen in the side view of the right hemisphere.   I have had sever head pain prior to the MRI since January and was treated for a sinus infection.  Since the MRI I have been put on Amitriptyin 40 mg, naproxen 440mg and Indomethicin 50mg.   Most recently I had an episode on Monday night of severe pain and after taking the medications as prescribed during the day I had nothing to take.  I went to Urgent care and was seen.  I was given a script of oxycodone 325mg and told to take 1-2 tablets and go to bed.  I took the one and then 4 hrs later took another tablet.  I woke at 8am with a headache that felt similar to a hangover from too much draft beer.  I laid back down and got up at 10 am.  I was instructed to call my neurologist and inform him of the need to go to Urgent Care.   He then increased my amitriptylin to 75mg and to only use naproxen as needed but to use the percoset if the pain persisted before the other medication is in my system.   It should take about 2 weeks for my body to be used to it.

Am I on the right path with taking medication?  Is a cyst or the calcifications the reason for the pain?  are they serious or is just watching them for now enough?   I really want to be pain free and not so tired all the time, its interfering with my life way too much!!!

Hello, Thank you for your question. Abnormal calcification in any part of body including ventricles, pineal gland and brain membranes (meninges) occur in response to some inflammation due to a number of possibilities. A neurologist should be consulted in this regard. He may conduct EEG and MRI/CT scan of brain to reach to final diagnosis of the cause of calcification of the meninges. Additionally, if the cyst is large it can cause headache, paralysis, seizures and gait disorders. Therefore, surgical intervention is essential to remove the large cyst and if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Therefore it is best to consult him to know the details of your health and diagnosis as he has full knowledge of the reports and can clinically examine you.  Hope this information is useful to you.
