calcium of the brian!!

calcium of the brian!!

my Grandpa just found out that he has calcium in his brian and there is nothing the doctors  can do for him and gave him 6 months to live.

What is calcium in the brian? and how does it get there? and is there really nothing anyone can do to fix it?

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa. Does he have dementia, senile or Alzheimers.
It is a build up of calciun within the brain, or vessels in the brain or to the actual skull. There are two classifications--metastatic calcification which is usually caused by too much calcium and phosphorous in the blood and dystrophic which is the result of inflammation or injury. The problem with any build(like plaque in the coronary arteries is it interrupts the normal function of the vessel which can decrease oxygen to vital areas) calcium building up in the brain can cause such things as stiffness, rigidity, loss of motor function, twitching, tremors, dementia, and seizures.  I would imagine that the outcome would depend on the size, placement, and number of areas with calcium build up.

Does he have end stage alzheimers, parkinsons disease, or any other chronic problem. Did the dr say that he has increased pressure in teh brain.

Best wishes, and prayers
