calf ankle and foot pain

calf ankle and foot pain

i had a laminectomy over a year ago, resulting in a left drop foot and half of my L. shin is numb the shooting pain in my legs and groine have now returned.since my surgery my left ankle and calf and bottom of my foot have been extremely painful to the point i sometimes cant walk.never had any problem before surgery (no injury). now my pain in my leg and groin have returned and im giong into surgery again for decompression. Dr, says the pain in my feet and ankles is not related, and this surgery will not help the pain in my feet and ankles. MY ?s are, does nerve damage caues constant pain? I thought if your nerves were damaged you just went numb. How could my ankles and feet not be related to the problems in my back? And which would be better the decompression surgery or just fusing the vertibra L4L5 IM looking for this to be fixed not be on a dr. payroll forever ive been fighting this for seven years now and dont see and end please help

Hi,
How are you feeling now?
Yes nerve damage can cause severe and constant pain.
Your ankle pain and feet can be related as nerve supply is same i.e. Sciatic Nerve.
You should consult and discuss about decompression with your surgeon in details.
Bye.

Hi,
Well, for a lumbar decompression, it can take a long time for the nerve root to heal. In general, if a patient is getting better within three months following the back surgery, he or she should continue to get better. Lumbar decompression surgery will usually relieve the patient’s leg pain directly after the back surgery. However, for 10-20% of patients the pain will continue until the nerve starts to heal.
Lumbar fusion surgery is better if you have severe pain.
