hello i have aughter who had cong scoliosis due to 2 hemivertabre at L2-L3 level and had previosaly fussed their selves together. and caused a 28 degree curve and she is only 3. well to make a long story short on 11-29-00 she had a double release of cord and now the radiologist are saying the scolioss is no longer ther but you can physically see it with out an x-ray and it had been id by 2PT and a OT one of which specialized in spinal problems.me & the rad tech can find it on the curve is it possible for cong scoliosis to spontanousally resolve when it was caused but unevin growth of the spine?

also we id a 3 hemivertabre on hte film can they develope over time is there a disorder that can cause dgeneration of vertabre?

if it really is gone whey does she pressent physically as if she does?

she does have decreased streinth in =her trunk and shoulder gurgdle as well as hypotonia should i be concerned she has a hard time getting up and tires easy in her trunk but thats about it?

. one more question she has a syrnix could this cause a change in hte scoilosis its self?

Dear Joanna:
Sorry to hear about your daughter. i am not sure what your asking. Scoliosis does not disappear. Surgery can correct it but the abnormal spine remains, although straight. Hemivertebrae are congenital and do not develop over time. Hypotonia can be found in congenital syndromes, especially disorders of secondary neuralation, but also can be found in many other diseases. I would have to refer you to your pediatric neurologist who knows more of the history and the neurological workup thus far.
