capillary telangeictasia

capillary telangeictasia

after 14 yrs when this was found on the pons/left i have been asymtomatic. On Dec. 20th,2007 I presented with a 6th nerve palsy. Seen by neuro optomologist he ordered mri Brain and orbits with and without gad. MRI shows an acute bleed in the pons left and down towards the medula. My questions are the percent of rebleed, will the palsy resolve when the blood is absorbed, and how long do i wait for a followup. I will see the neuro optomologist in 31/2 weeks for followup. Thank you.

Hi,
How old are you? What is your name?
Capillary telangiectasias (CTSs) are small areas of abnormally dilated capillaries within otherwise normal brain tissue. Most CTSs are found incidentally.
It is common to have VIth nerve palsy after acute bleed, as this bleed would cause edema and edema would cause nerve compression ad further palsy.
VIth nerve has got longest intracranial course hence affected easily.
Yes VIth nerve palsy would resolve.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
