carotid dissection

Has anyone had a stroke caused from a carotid dissection and wasn't diagnosed until later?  I really think I suffered from a stroke two weeks ago.  It started after I was playing tennis.  I had a worsening headache(intense pressure).  Then a few days later it came back even worse, I had a deep intense pain in my neck, my arm went completely numb, I fell down down(extremely weak in the legs), i had pain behind my right eye, I felt very oddly drowsy all of the sudden and felt a bit confused.  On the way to the ER(for the third time that week) I was twitching( big jerks of my right leg and left arm)  I also had blurry vision the next day and a lot of weakness.  THen it all seemed to go away.  I also have gurgling noises in my neck. I really thought I was going to suffer permanent damage or die.  I feel like no one believes me.  The head ct was normal but I know that an mri or other more sensitive tests are needed to diagnose it.  I have an appt. with a neurologist in one month!! its so far away!  But i know the ER dept. won't help me!  I still have a few symptoms here and there, but nothing as bad as that incident.  I have been taking asprin everyday because I know that this is very serious and no one is taking me seriously.  Any comments would be appreciated. I had a carotid artery dissection in June 08, I knew something happened to me that day but A&E sent me home. I was admitted a week later, they diagnosed migraine. My GP was unhappy he saw me the day it happened and thought I'd had a TIA at the very least. He got me into a different hospital where they diagnosed stroke due to carotid artery dissection. I would like to know how you are getting on now. Tomorrow I have my first neurology appt since being discharged from hospital...
