cataplexy without narcolepsy

Approx 20 years ago I was told by a neurologist I had cataplexy.  Since then I have been trying to find out more about this.  The info I find implies cataplexy is related to narcolepsy or MS, yet I have neither of these.  Also, my trigger is not emotion--it happens when I fall.  Perhaps that scares me and that could be the trigger, but it seems any strong emotion triggers it in narcolepsy.  Since it only happens when I fall, I can go months or even a couple years without having an episode.  When I do have one, it can last a few seconds or as long as half an hour.  I can't move but I can hear everything that goes on around me--mostly people freaking out, wondering what to do for me.  If left alone, I'll eventually come out of it.  Does this mean I'm destined to get narcolepsy or what?
