cervical radiculopathy/transphenoidal nerve block

I have been presented with an option of a transphenoidal nerve block and would like to know more about the procedure, i.e. risks/benefits and how exactly it is performed. I had a cervical spine injury and am awaiting possible surgery.

I'm not quite sure if you have the correct term and consulted one of my anesthesia colleagues who agrees that they;ve never heard of that type of procedure. What type of surgery are you undergoing and where is this to be done? Would be happy to answer on the string as a comment with more info.

in the interim i have found useful clinical information through a google web search and find it to have relatively few risks. would be interested in hearing if anyone else has had this procedure recently and, if so, with what result. i have disk herniations at C2-3, C3-4, C4-5, C5-6 and a spur at C5-6 with left arm radiculopathy. am trying to avoid surgery. i am in buffalo, new york and my orthopedic surgeon is one of a handful of docs undergoing approval for a new procedure he learned in south america using some sort of replacement disk. anyway, if you know of patients of yours who have had this procedure i would be interested in their outcome. thanks again!
