chemical imbalance and bi polar

My husband has been dignosed with bi polar and chemical imbalance, My question is, he has not took his meds for about two months, he seems to be doing really good but I just found out he was thinking about leaving me for another woman and then changed his mind because she went back to her boyfriend, he said he didnt do anything but take her to the races, he wants to stay with me I was going to leave him but everyone says that doesn't sound like him and its because he has not been taking his meds do you think this is what could be the problem, he said he loves me he is just tired of working and never doing anything
