child age 6 complains of buzzing leg, in utero stroke

My son, age 6, complains of buzzing in his right leg. He had a stroke in utero, has mild cp (right side), has shown no obvious signs of cp since age 4, is academically on target. 3 weeks ago, he complained to his teacher of buzzing in his right leg and then he dropped to the floor. He presented with rigid limbs, blank stare, tearing eyes, no voluntary talking for an hour although, when pressed, he was able to answer a simple question. He was subdued for two more hours. Then, after 3 hours from onset, he returned to his active, energetic, 6 year old self. Since that time, he complains of buzzing in his right leg periodically. He also appears to be tripping more often although his hand-eye coordination seems unaffected. Finally, his saliva management has slipped considerable. What's going on?

Children's complaints need to be taken seriously as you are doing.  The buzzing could well be a paresthesia (false nerve signal)  the episode of dropping and becoming rigid is very suspicious for a seizure. Many kids with CP will develop a seizure disorder at some time.  He needs a thorough new neuro eval and probably an EEG and an MRI.  I would also recommend a new S & L eval. if he hasn't had one in a while. Talk to your child's pediatrician.
