child having seizures

My grandchild has had 9 seizures in 11 months. he has been diagnosed with febril seizures. We dont understand this because he does not get a fever until after the seizure and a couple of times at the emergency room the doctor said that he (my grandson)did not have a treatable fever (99.8)but when he had another one they were quick to give him tylenol! Now he has had another seizure WITH NO FEVER the nurrologist has ordered medication but has only seen him 1 time. he has had a lumbar puncture and an eeg. I dont understand why they wont do more to find out what is going on this is heartwrenching to watch this baby go through this. It takes him a couple of days to recover after a seizure with balance and so on.if you have any sugestions please help!

Hi,
Is your grandchild admitted?
What medications have the doctor put him on?
Is he still having seizures?
I think CSF analysis is must.
I would recommend if you ask doctor's to do biochemical study and CSF analysis with complete blood count.
Keep me informed.
Bye.

my grandchild is 20 months old now and he has seen a pediatric neurologist i time several months ago. they put him on meds yesterday and have not even seen him again. his eeg was abnormal but we were told that it could be abnormal within 30 days of a seizure. as for the rest of the test you asked about I dont know what they are and to my knowledge they have not been done. thank you for your response. dcconway

Hi,
How is your grand child now?
If he is persisting to have seizure, he should be started on anti-convulsive medications.
We need to do blood investigations to see for treatable causes of seizures.
We need to do biochemical study for electrolyte imbalance, septic work up to see for infection and also imaging study and EEG.
You told they have done EEG study, what is the result?
What have CSF analysis shown?
I think you should be considering pediatric neurologist for review.
I recommend you to see one as early as possible.
Keep me informed if you have any queries.
Bye.
