chronic flank pain

chronic flank pain

I have had chronic flank pain for several years. I have a history of kidney stones and kept thinking the pain which is only on my right side was being caused by stones moving around. I am currently stone free and yet still have the pain. It feels like a clenching/spasm type pain. It can be moderate or severe and can last from a few minutes to off and on for days at a time. It seems like it may get worse or at least more frequent when my IBS acts up as well as near my period. My Dad has the exact same pain on the right side. I recently met someone who has similar pain and was diagnosed by a neurologist with a stress syndrome, but I didn't catch the name of it. I have an appt. with an Internal medicine doctor but would like to know as much as possible going into my appt. in case the dr. is not familiar with the syndrome. I'd like to know the name of the syndrome as well as what tests should be done. Thank you.
