chronic neurological pain

I recently developed a severe chronic pain syndrome which is resistant to most therapies, but responds somewhat to treatment with opiates.  I'm concerned about developing an addiction to my medication (Percocet), but I am unable to manage without it.

In the past year I have had three brain surgeries to repair a large cerebral spinal fluid leak through my sphenoid sinus.  I developed bacterial meningits twice.  My last surgery involved the complete obliteration of my sphenoid sinus by packing the space with cartilege from my ear and septum, this in an effort to stop the leak.

My question is: could this debilitating pain syndrome have been caused by the meningitis, or the surgeries, or the fact that my sphenoid sinus is packed with tissue?  During the course of my treatments I had several spinal taps and a lumbar drain.  Could any of these procedures have caused neurological damage which now is responsible for the pain?

Can anyone recommend a good pain management specialist on the East Coast?  Preferably in Massachusetts?
