clonus + hyper reflex

I am having difficulty finding any information online about these conditions. My daughter has clonus in her legs- when you place her foot on the floor with only her toes touching the ground in a specific way, her leg twitches. Our neuromuscular orthopedist is able to elicit the response my manipulating her feet but has not explained to me what this condition means. I have been able to gather that my daughter has upper motor neuron signs and that this could be either due to a neuromuscular genetic condition or to an autoinflammitory process. Both possibilities are being considered and further testing is being done. I would really like to understand what these two conditions mean- the hyper patellar reflex and the clonus in her legs. If the nerves are damaged is the damage likely to be permenant? To what extent does this kind of nerve damage interfere with motor functioning? Any information is appreciated!!
