clonus

by neubie, Mar 05, 2008 09:57AM
Good Morning,

Can anybody give me information about ankle clonus on one side? What would cause this. I have constant spasms in my legs, left side worse where the poitive clonus is, and I have started to get a burning pain in my left foot. My right leg and foot seem to be getting worse also but my reflexes on that side are ok. I have been getting cramps in my feet too. Also my neuro said I have assemtrical reflexes but it is minimal. I already went for an EMG and it came back negative but I am worried they did not test the troubled spots. Had an Mri of brain and Cervical spine that also look good according to my doctor. He is sending me for an MRI of the Thoracic Spine and the Lumbar Spine, SSER of the Legs, and doing labs for ANA, Antistriated Muscle, CBC, Folic acid, B 12, Vit E, Immunoelectrophories, and RPR.  Any ideas?

Hello.

Ankle clonus is suggestive of upper motor neuron loss. Upper motor neurons are the neurons that come directly from the brain and synapse with the lower motor neurons in the spinal cord. There could be some mass in the spinal cord. An MRI of the thoracic and lumbar spine is needed to rule out any cord compression.

hello, today i got several x-rays of my lower lumbine spine, and they gave me copys of x-rays to give to my doctor to examine. My Dr already has recent MRI. I took x-rays out and looked at them out of curiosity, and i saw severe dark spots on left side upper ribs area.
Does x-rays of lower lumbine spine show lungs. I have apt with Dr in two weeks.
