complication after blood patch

i had 2 blood patches done in September. a few weeks later i noticed pain (muscle tightness) in my left buttocks and hip swollen and very tender. also i am experiencing numbless my left leg and pins in my foot.

This could be a complication of the procedures, especially since the symptoms came on within a few weeks after them. If the procedure was not done correctly, there could be damage to the nerves in that area, which would explain the symptoms you are having. I would definitely report these symptoms right away to your doctor so they can work to resolve the problem. Good luck and best wishes.

Hi there. The possible complications after epidural blood patch are bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia, contrast dye solution, or sedative medication, like light headedness, low blood pressure and wheezing, infection. These may increase if you were on blood thinners or had an ongoing infection. Contact your doctor immediately if you have limb weakness, numbness, or unusual sensations etc. this could be the epidural hematoma causing these neurological symptoms and can result in permanent neurological sequelae. Please hurry up to the neurologist for immediate re look. Take care.
