Yes, a mri is a good next step. I had headaches daily for about two months and was sent in first for a ct scan which came back normal and requested that I be sent in for a mri next. My doctor was reluctant but I pushed for it and glad I did.
Headache is a common symptom in patients with spondylosis. These headaches usually start at the back of the head and then progress to the front. The other symptoms might be pain/ stiffness in the neck (particularly on waking up in the morning), numbness, pins and needles sensation or weakness of the arm or hand and loss of balance. Any movement of the neck may make the pain worse.
It’s good that you have taken an appointment from your doctor so that you can get the problem evaluated further.
Be well.
