deja vu

Is deja vu dangerous or a symptom of a dangerous condidtion?  Throughout my life I ahve experienced semi-frequent deja vu and occasional premonition-type episonds.  I've always attributed this to having fractured my skull as a baby.  Migrains also run in the family.  Should I be concerned of a possible dangerous underlying condition?

First of all, keep in mind that I am unable to diagnose you because I am unable to examine you, this forum is for educational purposes.
    Deja Vu is sometimes a symptom of temporal lobe epilepsy (a seizure arising from the area of your brain that sits roughly behind your ears).  This is not always the case, but given skull fracture as a baby this could also increase your risk for epilepsy.  I would suggest that you get an EEG (brain wave test) and to see an epilepsy specialist (a neurologist that has extra training in epilepsy). Sometimes 1 EEG (generally 20 minutes long), may not capture your event and you may require a longer EEG recording.

My son has complained of this for over 10 yrs. It began with a MAJOR depression ( lack of sleep??) and occasionally still occurs. Interesting  to see what the MD has to say.

Often people with brief and frequent episodes of deja vu or feelings of premonition are experiencing partial seizures.  These seizures last but seconds and do not impair consciousness.  There is a whole host of sensations and feelings that can accompany these.

You might do a search for:

and see what you find while waiting for the Neuro to get here.  He;s about 4 weeks  behind now.
