desperate for advice please ........

nearly a year ago i started with muscle twitches now and again was told they are fasciculations by my gp  , over the year they have became alot worse i now have them every day for most of the day, then i have had a buzzing feeling mostly my pelvis but has happened in my legs, and i now have bad muscle spasms ive had 2 really bad ones in 3 weeks 1 in my leg felt like my calf was goin to rip open, then the top of my back this was extremely painful i could not drive, pick things up and was in so much pain when i even walked this lasted 3 days my gp gave me diazepam, but after that happened my back still hurts certain ways i turn but not to bad.
i have seen a neurologist once, i had blood tests came back clear i also had an emg which was normal.
i was supposed to recieve an appointment for a follow up appointment with the neuro but all i got was a letter saying
"there is no evidence to suggest serious or sinister neurological disease"
can he say that after just 2 minor tests ?  what shall i do? i cant live like this i cant stand the pain of the spasms

Good for you and keep following the neurologist, and good that you explain the history and everything to your doctor. I did not mean to hurt you, i did not know the full history and now as i know i emphasize that you should lead a stress free life and try to forget the past. I still insist to you; not  to think about any disease till diagnosed because it will stress you.  You deserve disease free life and lovely future for all what you have gone through. Take care!

hi thanx for your reply,
i visited my gp today and she has requested a follow up appointment with the neurologist as when he saw me i was not getting the muscle spasms so bad and my gp did see me when i had the 1 in my back.
i am not self diagnosing but guess im just like many people on here just wanting to know whats going on so we can get treatment to stop the pain or even help with it.
i dont just worry about ms i know it can be a number of things, i was in a violent relationship for 13 years which i suffered some bad head injuries and also an injury to the bottom of my spine so that is also a worry
but i have been given some meds off my gp today to see if they help while i wait for my appointment with the neuro

Your clinical symptoms with your MRI will only suggest MS or any serious disease. Do not self diagnose as this will put you in stress. If your clinical symptoms do not point towards MS or your primary tests do not give any abnormality the neurologist gave you clean chit. If with the present medications your symptoms do not decrease and then i am sure they would advise a MRI.

thanx for replying
the only tests i have had is bloods and the emg nothing else,
im going to speak with my gp today as she also feels there has not been enough investigation when i saw my neurologist the appointment only lasted 15 mins he did not take my history or anything just had me walking around the exam room and checking my reflexes.
i am worried after reading symtoms on here if i maybe do have ms.
i just want to know wots wrong so i can get some proper treatment as the spams are really bad when i have them

Hi Katie,

I have muscle twitching, buzzing and spasms as well as other symptoms.  When they did the EMG they did the NCV at the same time?  I'm assuming both came back normal?  I take flexeril for the spasms and it helps me sleep most of the time.  IMHO I think you need to see another neurologist.

Hope you get some answers soon.
