diet, Kinetra Neurostimulator

Should Parkinson's patients be on a special diet?
Also, is the new Kinetra Neurostimulator only for patients who have advanced cases of the disease?
-------
Hi,
Patients with PD need not be on a special diet, the only qualifier I'd add is that when one takes Sinemet (preferrably on an empty stomach) with meals one should avoid high protein-containing food as these protein competes with the medication (which is an amino acid) for absorbtion hence making the med less effective.
The neurostimulators are used in advanced or refractory cases although each case should be evaluated and the decision is made on case by case basis. Good luck, if you would like to be evaluated here at the Cleveland clinic, please call : 1-800 CCF CARE
key word: diet, parkinson's diesease, neurostimulators
