difuse body cramps and fasciculations

by kjan1010, Nov 23, 2008 03:30PM
I have diffuse body cramps resulting in severe pain for as long as the cramps last (up to 5 minutes several times a day).  Also diffuse fasciculations. Cramping and fasciculations occur in about 25 different muscles (upper and lower body).  No weakness but pain to the affected muscles the next day.Next day pain is directly related to the duration of the muscle cramp.  Most severe pain is the L posterior shoulder and inner L thigh. Severe cramps can be caused by something as simple as trying to open a stuck jar or shifting the position of my leg. The cramps and fascicultions appear to be cyclical.  No or few cramps or fasciculations for several weeks then constant cramping for one to several weeks. I have had a full medical workup and a work up  by a neuro-physiologist and no cause has been found. Should I pursue a second opinion with another neurologist or just chalk this up to benign fasciculations.
