dilated pupils - need help

by quillswriting, Jul 16, 2007 06:49PM
I started a few weeks ago with one pupil bigger than the other but both reacted to light.  Since then, both pupils are the wrong size and when I look in the mirror they are changing size in front of me.  Like they can't decide what size to be.  One is huge and the other is medium sized - this is in the light.  I have had other symptoms and have been getting treated for anxiety and depression.  I have been having severe anxiety attacks for months among neuro symptoms which the doctors insist are to do with the constant fight or flight that I have been in.  My heart rate went up in April and never calmed down so I am on beta blockers for that, the high rate was constantly elevated.  They said it was to do with adrenalin.  What is happening though to my eyes?  I have also noticed some muscle weakness in one foot, inability to concentrate, carpal tunnel symptoms in one hand on the opposite side, I am spelling things wrong a lot too.  I also can't feel myself talking, like a depersonalisation.

Have you seen a neurologist, or are you self diagnosing yourself. Not to scare you but my sister had an avm ,one pupil was large and the other was small. I am not 100 percent sure but was told when it deals with a brain issue pupils will be different sizes, drugs usually have equal effect on both pupils. I have heard some people have different size pupils, but if your pupils are clearly different in size... I would make a trip to er right now. My sisters condition went un-noticed for 3 days as we thought she had flu. Go to er to rule out brain problem right now!

Thanks, I've had my eyes looked at by a physician because this has been going on for a while now.  We're talking weeks and weeks.  But I have other symptoms.  However, my gp says that my symptoms are not consistent with the obvious things and put me on anxiety meds.  I have also had severe stress and anxiety thinking for a long time that I was ill.  I've had these probs since giving birth.  I've also had sinus tachycardia which has been unexplained and symptoms similar to MS, like numbness, tingling, pain in my neck, back and shoulders, carpal tunnel etc...

when my sister went to er physician wanted to run drug panel...he was unaware of pupil issues regarding brain. I would see a neurologist to rule out ms and other issues....even for peace of mind.
