discription of muscle biopsy results

Hello,
I was wondering if this muscle biopsy was done correctly to diagnosis Mitochondrial Myopathy.

*The clinical history provided w/ this muscle biopsy suggests the possibility of mitochondrial disease.  The muscle morphologically is normal. However, because of this clinical question, electron microscopy will be performed and reported subsequent to the Interpretation of that study.
Gross Description:
clamped pieces of stringy red muscle submitted in glutaraldehyde. Tissue is flash frozen. Tissue is put in formalin. Specimen is sent to ......(I won't mention lab location )
*Discription:
Adequate longitudinal segments of skeletal muscle are received in glutaraldehyde, processed into plastic, sectioned at 1 micron and stained w/ toluidine blue. Appropriate areas are selected for thin sectioning,  staining w. lead citrate/uranyl acetate and examination by the electron microscope. No ultrastructural abnormalities are noted.  Specifically, mitochondrial are not seen in excess and appear ultrastructurally unremarkable.
That is all the report says. In your opinion is this the correct way to diagnosis mito...or am I correct if i think it was not done correctly..I.E. fresh sample...stained checked for ragged red fibers ....checking for depleted ???
I am being sent to Ma. General in the near future and I want to understand this report before I go.

I really pray a doctor will read this and try and give me an honest answer...because i don't want to waste my time on Mito if it isn't Mito....please :))
