dizziness, facial sensations

dizziness, facial sensations

I am a 45 year old male, good physical shape.  I had an episode of
dizziness in early Nov.  I still had some lightheadedness after a couple
of weeks and saw my primary care physician who did pin pricks,
coordination tests, etc. and found nothing.  Around early Dec.
I developed a tingle in the left side of my face, between the
eyebrow and the lower cheek.  There was no numbness, loss of muscle
control, etc.  My physician seemed concerned with this and suggested
a MRI which came back with the following:  "A single focus of increased
signal intensity, right centrum semiovale, most likely nonspecific
white matter changes of microvascular etiology."  It was mentioned
possible MS or an acoustic neuroma.  I was told that the MRI finding
had nothing to do with the dizziness or facial sensations.  The dizziness
has cleared up as has the majority of the facial sensations, there
is occasionally a tight feeling in the skin.  I am now experiencing a
kind of "chill" up the spine feeling starting in my lower back and
running into my scalp, this happens sereral times a day lasting for
a few minutes at a time.  I tend to be anxious and am wondering if I
am making all of this up or if I should be concerned.
I recently saw another primary care physician and he did not express
any concern with any of the above.  Should I just relax and let these
feelings go or should I try to get more information with further tests.
  Thanks for the help.

I do not think that these symptoms add up to anything serious, certainly
the combination of facial sensation abnormalities and dizziness would
warrant an MRI scan, to out rule an acoustic neuroma , however the MRI scan
obviously achieved this.
The spot on the MRI is very non-specific and does not give cause for concern.
The dizziness and facial sensations are clearing up so obviously do not
represent any serious established or progressive problem , so I think you
should forget about them.
I have not previously encountered the symptom with these transient feelings
in your spine.
It does not correspond to any sinister symptom - disease complex and as
long as this remains a transient sensation I would not be unduly concerned
about it.
My suggestion is that you follow your own instincts and relax about all of this.
