dizziness and frequent fainting spells

About Me: Female, 23, Nashville - TN, member since Apr 2010
My name is chelsea Harlan. I have ADHd, Bipolar, Depression, PTSD, OCD,anxiety and panic disorder and Social anxiety disorder. I also get frequent dizzy and fainting spells, and have had problems managing my sugar and salt intake for a while. It's like my body is use to a certain level of sugar, and when it goes too long without that amount, my body crashes. I am 6 months pregnant, and this is my second child. I had 9 miscarriages before I was able to hold my first daughter. I couldn't hold them past three months, and it would never show up on a pregnancy test. I didn't get confimration until it was too late and i had a little embyro fall out into the toilet the size of anywhere from a quarter to a golf ball.  Doctors constanatly looked at me like I was crazy and didn't believe that I was pregnant, they would just say that they thought it was just because I wanted to be pregnant. With my daughter, I took five pregnancy test, once a month, for each, and all four of the first ones came back negetive. I did not recieve a positive pregnancy test until the fifth one, and I was four months pregnant, then. the second one, came back more normal, i recieved the verification in only the second month. I have frequent fainting and dizzy spells that happen almost everyday in the morning. I don't know why i have them. If I just faint, I can still hear voices around me, and my hearing is just fine, but it feels like my brain shuts down, and the body looses connection, and I loose ability to be able to wake up or snap out of it, and then it feels like my body reboots, and it finally passes, and i come back, but a few times i have ended up having my eyes roll int he back of my head and my right side of my body would start shaking, uncontrollably.  i had suffered from a heat stroke, and it happened again, later taht smae year in Yakima, WA. I was pregnant both times, but my baby came out fine, with no apparent symptoms of damage or anything. a lot of times i feel a  sudden thirst like i can't get rid of. I also suffer from severe asthma, and find it very hard to walk up hills and up stairs, or sing while i'm walking, because i have trouble breathing.
i want to know know what all of this means, and the doctors told me that I din't have diabetes, and i've already been checked for it, and it came back negetive, I also feel more tired than usual, and most of these symptoms, i felt even when I wasn't pregnant, but it wasn't as often or severe. Even when I go to sleep at night, I find myself tossing ad turning, buecause my hips get so sore at night, and I have to switch to get in another postion, so in the morning i still feel like I haven't even gone to sleep at all. I have been currently having nightmares off and on, at least twice a week, usually lasting for about 5 to 10 seconds each. [Less] i was wondering if any this could possibly be linked to a brain tumor or Progesterone Defienciency, and what can I do to help relieve the symptoms?

Hey there,

You might want to ask your neurologist about dysautonomia. It causes fluctuations in blood pressure and passing out. I have a friend who has it and her body also twitches when she has a spell. Can be caused by so many things, from different lighting to standing for a while to changes in temperatures. I have having some weird symptoms also, but mine are more all the time, and don't come in spells, like generalized weakness, brain fog (feeling like I'm in a dream, etc.) My nuero wants me to have a tilt table test done to check for dysautonomia, but I don't think I'm going to have it because I've only passed out once in my life and it was from the sight of blood. But definitely mention it to your doctor or if you're seeing a neuro and see what they think... it's one of those diseases that alot of people don't know about and it can often get over looked. It's pretty treatable with some medicines so maybe that is what you have. Hope this helps!

Same thing happened to me..mine ended up being seizures. Started during pregnancy. Mine are not full blown on the floor seizures. Mine are called partial seizures..I zone out for a few seconds..still see..but according to family my right arm and leg shake, eyes glassy, and then I "come out of it". I recommend seeing a neurologist.

Another thing we have in common. Get checked for anemia. I am considered "borderline anemic" When my iron drops I can't sleep and if I did not know better I would think it was restless legs. But I take an iron pill and within 30 minutes I am asleep. When I told my Dr. what my symptoms and the fact that iron helped she told me if it worked to stick with it.

Hope this helps.
