dizziness and tingling sensation to the scalp, am i ok?

lately im been feeling dizzy, not like everything is spinning but a feeling like eventhough i'm still it feels like everything is still moving. my gait is normal, no ringing of my ears but a tingling sensation to my scalp instead. i went to my internist, checked my ears and eyes and said that i'm ok and he can't provide answers to my dizziness and tingling sexastion to the scalp. he ordered neck x-ray plus CT scan of brain with and without contrast. this is about two weeks now.
is this a brain tumor. im really worried. can someone enligten me.

Your symptoms would be nonspecific for a brain tumor - that is, not suggestive of a brain tumor
However I cannot confirm this without making sure you had a normal neurological examination

This includes specific testing of inner ear (vestibular) testing which may not have been done at the internists office
The ideal person to see is a neuro-otologist - they can differentiate between an inner ear problem like benign positional vertigo (BPV) or a viral infection of the inner ear (labyrinthitis) and a more central problem in the brainstem
Some ENT doctors can do this also
BPV can be treated by simple positional maneouvres

Usually problems in the brain stem like a tumor that cause dizziness cause other problems like hearing loss on one side, weakness or numbness on one side as well as all the structures in this area are very close together.

I have been in similar and worse situation for about two recent years. I am 49 years old, male. Generally in good health. However I was a heavy drinker(once I had a chance to drink, and I was able to drink more than ordinary people, without much drunken) until 1997 and heavy smoker until October, 2000 (1 1/2 pack a day).

I, sometimes, used to have squeezing pain in my eyes and headaches even before year 2000. Optometrist suspected Glaucoam and sent me to eye specialist. He gave me eye drops which I used more than 9 months until I experienced red eyes and double vision etc. But it was found I was not Glaucoma, recently.

October 15, 2003, I was sent to hospital and stayed two nights due to inner ear infection. Severe vertigo, vomits. The world was spinning. I was told by ENT specialist that it was Vestibular Neuronitis, viral infection.  No hearing loss. Balance test at the hospital was normal. The result of CT scan was normal.

Also several episodes, before the inner ear infection (during August - september 2003), of sudden dizziness when I was at Church mass. I had to sit down while others were standing up at the mass. I felt my heart beat increased. But such dizziness lasted for about 30 minutes to an hour or so.

I was attacked by dizziness(not spinning but felt like my brain is moving inside of my head), heaviness, stiffness on the scalp, pain in my neck, unusual cold sweat in my back head, squeezing pain in  eyes. Once it attacked, it lasted for about 3-4 weeks. Last year it lasted more than 3 months -June, July, and August 2004. Almost every month I got attacks.

My family doctor sent me to a Neurologist. He ordered me head MRI in August last year. Nothing remarkable except for a few signs of hypertension. I don't know what those signs were. He wrote a prescription of Vitamin B2. I am still taking 4 pills og 100mg V-B2 everyday. He said it's a migraine. I am seeing him  once in 3-4 months since then. He suggested me to take anti-hypertension pills as well as my family doctor priscribed (prescribed). He said it's nothing to do with former attack of inner ear infection.

Sometimes I could not pick more than 3 roots of wheed from my front yard grass because of dizziness. Dizziness always comes together with squeezing pain in my eyes. It last all day long as long as I am awaken. I felt tiresome and tended to go to bed early. Pain in my neck also comes together.

I am afraid if it is a sort of stroke(mini-stroke) and silently kills my brain day after day. I want to know if I should seek a second opinion.

In Mrach I was attacked for about 3 weeks and after a short break of 10 days, It attacked me again in April. It almost gone now, May 03, 2005, but still stiffness in  the scalp and mild heaviness in my head.

Would appreciate your advice on this situation.

Hi,

I have this problem too. But I do not experience any dizziness. I only experience a kind of tingling or bubbling sensation on the left side of the scalp. I do not know what actually caused this. I went to a doctor and she said she couldn't diagnose my condition. It really bothers me because I cannot concentrate and sleep at night. Can anyone explain or have this problem as me?

I have the same symptoms to acolyte60. I thought it had to do with a head injury I sustained in february. After a ct scan I was diagnosed with a concussion and prescribed dizziness medication. I was told that the difficulty concentrating, dizziness, and headache could possibly for quite some time (then being referred to as post concussion syndrome). I wonder though if the tingling and sort of throbbing sensation may be symptomatic of something else, for instance minor/major muscular or nerve damage in the scalp as opposed to concussion which would be intercranial. Also, is there a possible correlation to teeth grinding or TMJ?
