elderly mother

my 86 year old mother has conjestive heart failure, afib,kidney failure (creatin 2, bun 46)  diabetic fro about 2 years controls it by taking Prandin, and asthma and uses oxygen. She is 5ft and weight is 120 pounds.  Recently she has started having problems speaking.  She will start talking and then seems to struggle for her words and starts to experience shortness of breath.  If she stops for a moment and takes deep breaths she seems to calm down and can talk again.  Her (interinst) and (heart doctor) seem to feel it is just anixety and told her to take a anixety pill.  She only takes, Prandin,predisone,albutural,benicar,lexpro,cartizan every other day for her heart.

This is really bothering her she is starting to not to want to go out.  She still has her licence and is active.  Please let me know our thoughts.

At 86 years of age we expect all sorts of health complication,First of all it is good that she is active,Thank the lord almighty for that.I advice you to meet the psychiatrist,senility will have psychological problems which will worsen the medical problems.Simply by putting her on antianxiety pills she wont ,maybe feel good.She needs reassurance,treating her heart wont be enough.
She needs mental support.Spend time with her,make her feel good by your company,Let all your family members get to gether for a dinner and sing her praise,by doing such things you can reassure her.That is what she wants more than sheer medical care.Let her know that you love her and she is so precious to you.

Your mother's presentation does seem to indicate a relationship between difficulty in speaking and anxiety, especially since her cardiologist has not linked them to her cardiovascular disease.

Has your mother consulted a therapist for this? Accompany your mother to a therapist so that her condition can be assessed properly.
