electric surge in my head

electric surge in my head

I'm a 34 yr old male with a 6 year history of pressure headache and a stable osteoma in the supra-orbital area of my frontal bone.   My symptoms all along have been just a constant pressure in my head and occasional different levels of symptoms that are similar to BPPV... .   But lately I have been having these "surges" behind my forehead and in my frontal brain area that feels like  it does when your foot is asleep and is waking up, except the feeling surges suddenly in my head is lasts maybe 5-10 seconds.  It makes me feel disoriented.    My last CT scan was 5 months ago,   but what could my latest symptoms mean?   Please feel comfortable to comment, because i will be seeing my doctor for a regular follow up in a month

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor.

Without the ability to obtain a history from your boyfriend and examine your boyfriend, I can not comment on a formal diagnosis or treatment plan for your symptoms. However, I will try to provide you with some information regarding this matter.

Your symptoms may consistent with seizures. Seizures may occur due to irritation of the brain tissue surrounding your osteoma. Not all seizures have to have shaking involved.  It is common to be disoriented with certain types of seizures.

Another differential may be tension type headaches.  Tension-type headaches are usually about <1day/month lasting 30min to 7 days and can be bilateral and feel as if pressure. Activity usually does not aggravate and there is no nausea or vomiting or sensitivity to light or sound. Treatment usually includes massage, physical therapy, and if needed, medication such as amitriptyline. It is important to realize that chronic use of over-the-counter medications for other types of headaches and also lead to this type of pain you are describing.

Although would still rule out seizures first with a brain wave test, called an EEG.  Sometimes you may need to be evaluated in an epilepsy monitoring unit and be hooked up to an EEG for a few days while your events are attempted to be captured.

Good luck and hope this information was helpful.

Good afternoon, we have the familiar case of a young man just 25 years and is reportedly suffering from herpes encephalitis according to the results of the analysis (both in Venezuela and test results have been received from the U.S.) the problem is who have given all treatments should have a patient with this type of disease and is still in critical condition has more than 40 days in that situation. Currently you are providing 4 types of antibiotics or antivirals most anticonvulsants and does not improve your situation, it is important to maintain stable vital signs, blood pressure, pulse etc., but does not improve neurological problem. The patient is being treated at the Academic Medical Centre of Trinidad, Caracas Venezuela, and is served by DR Arnoldo Soto (neurologist and epileptologist) who is surprised by the case because it is the first time that this has happened in Venezuela is not I wonder if common through this medium or any email they can to get a copy of the physician to know in more detail the case and analyze the situation.
