electrical sensation

electrical sensation

Since Monday (Feb. 04.08) I have had an electrical type sensation in the left pelvic area of my body.
There is no pain. I am able to time it at about every four seconds. Weird!! I assume it is a nerve that is being touched by something?? An artery??  If I check my pulse I can count four to five beats and then the buzz feeling. What the heck is this?? I came to the neurology forum...thinking nerve??
Thanks for any direction.

Hello.

Most probably it is a dilated artery which is pressing the nerve. You will need to do an MR angiogram to spot the problems.

Thank you so much for the quick response.
I was afraid no one would take me seriously. It has become really annoying!
I will call my primary physican and make an appointment. Can it wait a week...the usual time frame to make an appointment.

Hi.

I think one week will be fine. But please watch for any increase in the symptoms. In the case where the symptoms increased rapidly, please go to the ER. You can not take chances with the blood vessels.

I called my primary physican(internal medicine) and was seen at three thirty today.
His opinion/diagnosis.....Diverticulitis in the sigmoid colon and put me on an antibiotic for ten days and if no improvement...an ultrasound. What??? Says the "pocket' is probably touching a nerve. My eighty year old mother has this condition and from what I looked up this is not a symptom. At fifty three years of age I realize some things are going to change but, I feel great...no pain, no bowel problems, nothing. Just wanted your opinion on this diagnosis.
Thanks again for helping me out during your busy shedule.

Hello.

Diverticulitis (Diverticulosis) is known to be silent. It may or may not produce any symptoms. But it may have some problematic complications. So it is better to rule it out by ultrasound. And to find out if it is pulsating with blood rushing in it, or if there is some other blood vessel which is touching a nerve, an angiography will be helpful.
