encephalomalacia

I provide early intervention in homes for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Recent CT scans and MRI of one of the children I serve found all outer, middle and inner ear as well as the auditory canals to be normal. The test results revealed enchaphomacia in both hemispheres with cotical thinning of the temporal and frontal lobes. Mom has been told by the nuerologist that this will not worsen but is chronic. I have been unable to  find a connection to this and hearing loss. Have there been any reported cases were encephalomalacia has affected hearing and more importantly, is there information as to the outcomes for aiding someone with encephalomalacia either with hearing aids or cochlear implants? Thanks
