I recently had an epiduralExtradural hemorrhage injection for low back, and pain in back of both legs. A previous mri shows I have a small centralCentral sleep apnea Central-vite disk herniation at the l-5 disk.Within days of this injection I developed severe burning pain in both feet, worse at night. After suffering for the past 4 weeks I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. This pain was not present prior to this injection.Could this be a result of something going wrong with this procedure. If this is so is this damage permanent ? I was also told that my herniatedHerniated nucleus pulposus disk would not cause this exteme pain in my feet. Any insight would be greatly apreciated
There are many different terms used to describe spinal disc pathology and associated pain, such as “herniated disc”, “pinched nerve”, and “bulging disc”. The bones which form your spine are called as vertebrae. The space between two vertebras is cushioned with disc. When disc bulge or break open due to any reasons like ageing (aging), or trauma to spine, it is called as herniated disc and this can cause pinching of nerve. It can happen in any region, but is more common at lower back in lumbar region.
The pain you are experiencing can be due to this pathology.
It can be a result of epidural injection at your lower back irritating sciatic nerve. But the damage would not be permanent. It will heal and can take 8-12 weeks to heal.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
