essential tremor or something else?

essential tremor or something else?

Hey all,

I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me for 6 years and im pretty sure its essential tremors. I believe i myself caused this as i used to smoke a lot of marijuana when i was younger ( i know.. stupid ). My two main symptoms confuse me though. the first is the tremor itself which fits the ET description ( well in saying that it doesn't happen when i move my head it can happen anytime it likes ) but the second symptom is pain in the muscular part of my upper rear neck / back of head. Do people with ET get pain also??

My Doc's have varied their opinions of what i have from tension headaches to dystonia but have never given a true diagnoses. I have had success with botox, inderal and amytriptalyne ( spelt wrong ) but the sympotms are always there when the treatments wear off etc.

My healthcare system is a joke hence the research by me rather than my doctors but i feel i know myself better than any doctor does and can figure this out ( hopefully with your help ).

I am sick of the treatments that make me drowsy and the inderal hasn't worked for a while now. so mainly i want to pinpoint what it is that is wrong and then pursue a longer term fix. I realise that a lot of this disorders are life long and under researched but my feeling on it is there must be something that can be done.
For example when i was initially told it could be dystonia i wasn't to unset as i knew of a common enough proceedure in which the effected muscles are lenghtened therefore negating the wrong signals they are sent.
My symptons are all from one particular point in the back of my head and if botox can have a good effect on these muscles then why not surgery etc?

anyway i didn't mean to type so much, my main questions were do people with ET feel pain in the effected area also, are there more long term solutions ( even in testing ) and if i end up having something different from ET has anyone already gone through what i am and have they any suggestions on what i may have?

Many thanks
