Actually, you're supposed to fall asleep during an EEG. They are interested in critical information related to the transition from waking to sleep phase. Usually, you're supposed to stay awake during an auditory evoked response test. But if you fall asleep, the changes (if at all significant) would be different than the ones detected for MS.
