excessive pain left hip area

I had a total hip replacement in 2005 in bowling green hospital Ky.now starting almost two weeks ago I have been in sever pain in that hip.what can I do to get a good nights sleep.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

You should first discuss your pain with the surgeon. It would be worthwhile to have confirmation that the joint is fine and there is no need to be concerned (e.g., infection, malalignment, etc). Tyically for joint pain, NSAIDs and physical therapy are the first line. If no improvement with these, a pain specialist may opt to do a procedure called facet joint block.

Again, I would suggest you discuss your pain with the surgeon.
