exertional headaches

I enjoy exercise, and am in great health, having recently passed my annual physical
and cardiac stress test with flying colors.  But I suffer from severe headaches after most
workouts, and the headaches last for many hours.
My physician suggested taking ibuprofen before workouts.  It proved completely
ineffective.  OTC analgesics are also completely ineffective post-workout,
  in reducing headache pain.
What specific suggestions could you give my physician and I in terms of
  prophylaxis?

This is a great question Aryl. I have treated several patients with exertional type headaches and they tend to rspond very well to indomethacin. This medication is given proir to the workout and the dose can be varied depending on its effect. I think to will be very pleased with the response you get. I do like to have imaging studies on these types of headaches. Good luck
