My 3 month old nephew has craniosynostosis and saw a neurosurgeon last Friday for the surgery. The problem is he keeps turning his eyes completely downward where all you see is the white of his eyes till you get his attention and then he brings them up normal. He's doing this more frequently and I feel it is not normal. I am an RN and feel he should see a neurologist. The neurosurgeon told my sister in law it is normal for his eyes to do this, I do not agree. What could this be and do you agree about the neurology consult? He is scheduled for the surgery (saggital suture closed) at the end of August. Thank you.

Yes, he should see a pediatric neurologist. Sometimes kids do this if there is some intracranial pressure on the deep structures of the brain. If he's had an MRI of his brain as part of his preparation for surgery, this should have ruled it out. But it sounds concerning, I agree.
