I have been having pain everyday about 40% of the time. The pain has different levels. Sometime so intense that all I can do is cry. I am on 150

Imipramine hydrochloride
Imipramine pamoate and 60
baclofen. I am going to start on

Dilantin infatabs
Dilantin kapseals
Dilantin-125 tomorrow. Does anyone ever get total relief from this pain? I also get red in the face with extreme heat coming out of my ears. My neurologist hasn't heard of the people having the redness and the heat problem. I do believe they are related to the facial pain. Do you know if this could be true? Thank you. Patty

Atypical facial pain is a complex disorder which can result from a wide
variety of different causes, the causes tend to overlap between
specialties , involving neurology, dentistry, annd maxillofacial surgery.
There are a wide variety of different treatment modailites depending on
the underlying cause, these range from medical therapy with drugs to
surgical procedures which destroy the nerve tissue responsible.
I would suggest that since you are still having such terrible problems
you need to obtain a second opinion , but from a different type of
specialist, in order that you can have the problem assessed and treated
from a different and hopefully more successful perspective.
I would suggest that you see amaxillofacial surgeon to assess this complex
disorder, other resources would be someone who specializes in pain
management, but I would try a maxillofacial surgeon first in order to look
for an underlying cause.
Fro the neurological point of view the drug neurontin has proved useful
in some cases and might be useful in your case also, this would be easy to
try as the drug has minimal side effects.
In the meantime I suggest that you change specialties for a second opinion.
