Dear Joanna Hanna:

I can understand your feelings.  There are many factors that cause disorders of 2nd neurulation that your daughter expresses such as chromosomal, multifactoral genetic, medications, and certain genetic diseases.  Since I can examine you, it is very difficult to tell you that you might have the same problem, but likely not.  Your history would be more positive for symptoms that arise from 2nd neurulation problems.  What your symptoms are from is also difficult to tell over the internet.  I would suggest a good neurological exam and maybe some testing based on the findings of the exam.  Your symptoms can be from a number of things, including what you mention (stress and much fatigue).

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD

To: joann hanna- sorry no name on second question
Dear Joanna,   Your symptoms remind me a bit of my brothers who who was misdiagnosed for 2 years as having epilepsy and then "panic attacks" none of the medications or treatments for these had any beneficial effects and indeed he gradually worsened. He was having intermittent spells lasting for a few hours where he was conscious but would not respond appropriately,  generalised fatigue and when he was at his worst he became very angry and violent usually directed at objects. He could not remember any conversations or his own feeling after these spells. Eventually he found a good diagnostic physician wh discovered that he had very low blood sugars (hypoglycemia) and after many investigations he had a benign tumor removed surgically.  This is a very rare tumor called an insuloma. The tumor produces excess insulin.  The surgery was completely sucessful and he has had no recurrrences of any problems.
