Swelling. I spend long hours in front of my computer, and of course, do almost all my work from a seated position, whether it be in the kitchen, or at a desk or whatever. I admit to the fact that I am long overdue for a check up, but I guess I am just looking for a possible reason,and/or solution to this problem. The only drugs I am currently taking are baclofen for spasticity, and ditropan. All and all everything has remained the same with the exception of this annoying problem. Any advice, or information you could supply me with until I can get back for a visit would be very helpful.

Dear Lynmarie:
Your problem seems to be most probably due to decreased venous blood return and therefore swelling in the dependent areas. One easy solution would be to keep you feet and legs in upright position when your working on your computer or in the kitchen when you are seating so your feet will not be dangling down, and/or to move more often from your normal position.
I think a follow up visit at The Mellen Center is an excellent idea and I strongly recommend it.
Good luck
