frontal lobe pain

by wolf bronski, Mar 10, 2007 12:00AM
I have had pain in my right frontal lobe about 1 cm below the hair line on the right side.  The pain is sharp and sometimes feels like burning.  It comes is waves and sometimes I feel dizzy.  This has happened about 6 times in the past month usually late at night.  Two times my entire brain felt numb – like the sensation of needles when your leg falls asleep.  Some times my ear drums feel like they are fluttering.
I am relatively healthy 26 yr old male (5’10” ~ 175 lbs) – running ~15 mi a week and regular rock climber.
Bad things I do – I regularly use artificial sweetener in coffee (~2-20oz cups a day), have the normal high stress of any PhD student (geology), use tobacco (Skoal ~ 2 times a day for the past 6 months), sleep deprivation ~5-6 hours of sleep a night for more than 2 months at a time, and I have spent periods at high altitude (~6,400 m or 21.000 ft) during the summer for about 2 months.  There is a history of alzheimer's, hart arrhythmia, slack joints, and Neutropenia in my family.  I have had arrhythmia issues my self when I get out of shape.
Last, I have worked in a lab and regularly use concentrated hydrofluoric, nitric, hydrochloric, and perchloric acids.  Also, I use heavy liquids – sodiumpoly tungstate (SPT), and a Lithium tungstate (LST). Also, I have had skin contact with the tungstate liquids on numerous occasions.

I have been having frontal headaches, pain and stiffness in my neck. Now my left ear lobe is getting twinges of pain.  Are these flu symptoms.  My back also feels tight.  One more question does thyroid medicine make your neck become thick.
